From classicarcadegaming.com forums:

Thanks to Richie Knucklez, Classic Arcade Gaming (dot com) continues a series of historical precedents, with the latest being the highest purse ever offered for a set of bounties at a cag event ! Happening for one day only – Saturday, September 26th – there’s over $3,500 in cash bounties, on more than 15 game titles, topped off by a ‘grand’ bounty prize of $1,000 ! As always, there might be an issue with one or two titles being included in the event, due to sale, or breakdown (heaven forbid !), but, Richie will of course do his best to make them all available. Now, here’s the list, and the bounties for each:

$100 bounties: Dig Dug, Donkey Kong Junior, Frogger (TG settings), Journey, Moon Patrol, Ms. Pac-Man, Pac-Mania, Phoenix, Road Runner (if available)

$250 bounties: Crossbow, Donkey Kong, Elevator Action, Marble Madness (if available), Pole Position (TG settings), Sinistar, Track & Field

$1,000 ‘grand’ bounty: Crystal Castles

Of course, the requirements are that players must break the current world records for the above titles, which I’ll detail on the future event page. As usual for CAGDC, all games will be on factory settings (other than Frogger and Pole Position, as noted), and there’s no time limit, other than as dictated by the hours of the contest. No other titles will be considered, and (of course), all game play must be at Richie’s, during the hours of the contest (scheduled for 10 AM to 10 PM). Note that since it’s possible that only one Atari System I cabinet will be available, only one of the two titles Road Runner and Marble Madness may be available on contest day.

The event is set, based on a verbal agreement with Richie. When I get the contract back from him, it will be locked in, and I’ll ‘tweet’ those who are following me on Twitter (join if you haven’t already !), then later post on the forums, in this thread. I’ll have the contest page up soon, too, with all the details, a way to sign up to attend (plus play all non-contest titles) and (optionally) enter the contest, and also, other requirements for the bounties will be listed. The attendance and entry costs will be laid out on the page.

Well, be sure to set the 26th aside, and come out to see the players going for records, and cash money (plus, go for some yourself !). I know Jimmy Linderman will be trying for Pac-Mania (as listed on CAGDC), and I imagine Don will try Dig Dug, and maybe Frogger, plus Ben will no doubt attempt to beat the now ‘missing’ Moon Patrol record (in TG book 1), by Mark Robichek. Best of luck to everyone, and let’s set some new world firsts !
