Best Games Of The Decade…Maybe

If you happened to catch  last week’s snow show, you might have heard a mention that IGN.com had developed a list of top ten games and movies of the 2000′s.  Actually, what they did is they made a top ten list for every year of the decade from 2000 through 2009.  Rather than discuss a list of 100 games, I’ll just list their top ten.

#10: Uncharted 2: Among Thieves for PS3 from 2009 (#1 for 2009)

#9:  Battlefield 1942 for PC from 2002

#8: Okami for PS2 from 2006

#7: Fallout 3 for Multiple Platforms from 2008

#6: HalfLife- Counterstrike for PC from 2000

#5: Super Mario Galaxy for Wii from 2007

#4: Grand Theft Auto 3 for PS2 from 2001

#3: Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic for Xbox & PC from 2003

#2: Shadow of the Colossus for PS2 from 2005

#1 Half Life 2 for PC from 2004

Now this list can be debated until we all get the graybush.  Rather than take all 100 games and compare them against each other, IGN took their top ten of the decade from the number one games they listed for each year.  I’ve actually only played three games off of this list and would have liked to have made some changes in the list obviously.  I can’t tell if IGN has a jones for shooters or obscure games.  Most of these games are like the TV show Glee.  Everybody talks about it yet I don’t know anybody who has ever seen it.

IGN did list some enjoyable games from their yearly breakdowns.  Some of the honored games include Kingdom Hearts, Metroid Prime, Borderlands, Conker’s Bad Fur Day, Assassin’s Creed 2,  and pretty much any Zelda game ever made in the 2000′s.

You could probably make a top ten of the 2000′s from the ones IGN picked at their best of the decade page or be creative and make up your own.  Year by year I would say they picked some good games, but for the best of the decade it looks to be a list for shoot and kill gamer.
