The EA Event at Gamescom started at 4PM German time. The senior VP of EA publishing welcomed the crowd to the event, in German of course, then broke into English. One of the American suits then came out to introduce the Sims 3 which is coming to consoles. The Sims 3 isn’t really a surprise, but they took the time to show more of the game and ways on how to make your Sims’ lives hell, by raining fire down on their homes. Also on display was The Sims Medieval, where you can create your heroes, choose your quests, and complete your ambitions. You can build wizard’s towers, churches, shops, taverns, castles, etc. You can have swordplay amongst your Sims and what Medieval game would be complete without some good old Medieval Torture!! This game is slated to be released in March of 2011.

EA then showcased their next Harry Potter game, which will have Kinect support. James and Oliver Phelps, the brothers who play the Weaseley twins in the movies, showed up to demonstrate how the game works on Kinect. It appears as if this game is a clone of that Sorcery game we saw for PS Move back at E3.
Steve Papoutis came out and we then got to see Dead Space 2. This game features the main character, Isaac, in free form space flight, attacking various necromorphs. The PS3 version will support PS Move. It will be available on Jan 25 in North America. Papoutis is quoted on stage as saying, “We’re committed to pushing the boundaries of hardcore action games, focusing squarely on horror” more »

Modern Warfare 2 glitch unlocks five SNK XBLA games–Joystiq

In a stroke of exceptionally bad luck for SNK, a glitch has been discovered that unlocks free access to the full versions of five of the publisher’s XBLA games for users who already have the demos on their hard drives. To make it worse, the glitch occurs within Modern Warfare 2 (a game that bajillons of Xbox 360 owners already have) — or its recent demo (which is freely available).
Somehow, running Modern Warfare 2 coincidentally fools the system into thinking it’s authorized to temporarily unlock full versions of Garou: Mark of the Wolves, The King of Fighters ’98 Ultimate Match, Metal Slug 3, Metal Slug XX, and Samurai Shodown II. Joystiq tested the exploit with Garou and KOF ’98, and can verify that it works. For now, at least.
We’re certain this issue will be patched by one of the three affected parties — SNK Playmore, Activision, or Microsoft — in the near future, now that it’s known. In the meantime, just because you can get these games for free doesn’t mean you aren’t a major jerk for doing so.
[Note: This doesn't permanently unlock the games; only if you launch them directly from inside MW2. If you launch from the Dashboard, they'll behave just like plain ol' trial games.]
