Way Too Many Games

March 9, 2010

and I’m not talking about the show–although here’s a cool picture of it:

Anyway, I posted an article a while back, about how happy I was that a bunch of good games were coming out in Q1.  I think I’ve changed my mind…

There are way to many fun games that came out and there’s no way I’m going to touch them any time soon.  And I like to touch them.  I think about touching them often and in an inappropriate manner–like playing instead of doing work like filming/editing, updating the site, cleaning, eating, paying attention to people, etc…

Of recent, I rented Aliens vs Predator, picked up Heavy Rain and Bad Company 2 and have Dawn Of War 2 and God of War 3 on pre-order.  Did I mention I got a free down load for Saint’s Row 2 and have a free copy of Red Faction: Guerilla on the way?

I know I could “wait” to pick them up, but then, I wouldn’t be doing you guys justice right?  Someone has to keep it real for all of the drunken, stoned, depraved and derelict gamers out there!  That’s what I tell my GF.  Sometimes it flies…

RedLynx TV

March 8, 2010

Our buddies over at RedLynx put together a lil program, highlighting their wares.  The first episode is featuring, you guessed it, Trials HD.  It gives some cool riding and level editing tips, so pay attention if you dig Trials.  Last, but not least, make sure to let the YouTubers know how much you love our VO’s :)

Impressions: Heavy Rain

heavy rain cover

I’m going to keep this one short and sweet. So far this game has put me into a heavy sleep…

Now this is an impression, not a review, so I’ve only played the game for a little over an hour, but I’ve spent 95% of the time doing the following: catering to my kids, getting nagged at by my wife, wandering around and interacting with things that don’t matter. The graphics are incredible, not doubt, and the soundtrack is amazing. There are a couple moments of great suspense, but overall there has been NO ACTION.

Maybe this title wasn’t the best choice for me, as I normally have 30 minutes or less for my gaming time, but I do enjoy a good story line and from all the previews, it looked like this title would deliver on that point big time. All of the reviews I’ve seen have been great–gamerankings.com has it rated over 90%–and that definitely influenced my choice. I just hope I can make it far enough to find out if they’re right…

Snowed In The Shit-House

A picture of our deck from the bathroom window. Good thing I have GTA: Chinatown Wars to keep me company whilst I dump-out!

Will be a great weekend for gaming–at least after I spend the next 4 hours digging us out–so make sure to hit me up (if you’re not on my friends list, make sure to put “Game Casa” in your request).  Will be on Xbox Live this weekend, playing any of the following: Alien vs Predator MP (Demo), Borderlands, Trials HD, Chime, Dead or Alive 4, Blitz 2, Darksiders, Dirt 2, or Gears of War 2.

Game Time: How Much Is Too Much?

January 26, 2010

"Time to do the dishes cracker!"

Most of us who read/post on here are pretty casual gamers. More often than not, we become better at collecting games than playing them. I think you all know what I mean by this: we have to have the cool new games when they come out, but never have enough time to play, let alone finish them.

It always seems that I get pulled away from my “game time”, by housework, phone calls, life, etc. Most of the Game Casa crew can attest to this and normally don’t bother gaming with me anymore. Ask any of them how many times I’ve had to bail, just after we get our co-op or multi-player game started.

I’m curious as to how much time people put into their gaming on a daily basis and if they set that time in stone, not to be distracted by “life”. If I get 30min, I’m happy, but would like to get in a solid hour a night–and I mean a full hour of gaming, not 10 minutes here, 20 minutes there.

What do you guys think is a reasonable amount of time for gaming; furthermore, what amount of time would you set with the rest of your “life” turned off?

Game Casa .Net Show: Episode 1

January 25, 2010

The bandwidth at Tone’s was all fucked up, but the audio is ok, so you can listen to it like a podcast. Should be doing these once every other week or so. Don’t mind the break we take when Tone’s daughter calls ;)  Anyway, here tis:

Virtual Fashion: What They’re Wearing In Uncharted 2 [Gaming Glamor] from Kotaku

For too long, video game characters have been permitted to strut through their games without a comment about their fashion sense — or the sense of the game designers who clothed them. No more.

We are proud to launch this new era of virtual fashion scrutiny with a check of what the beautiful virtual people of Uncharted 2: Among Thieves are wearing during their new and critically-acclaimed PlayStation 3 adventure.

Assisting Kotaku this time are:

-Amy Hennig, Creative Director of Uncharted 2 development studio Naughty Dog. Her studio also provided the many reference photos included here.

-Heather and Jessica from fashion blog Go Fug Yourself, who asked us to refer to them as “The Fug Girls.” Their blog is best at cracking jokes on poorly dressed celebrities. They were a shade kinder here. They have not played Uncharted 2 yet.

-Latoya Peterson, editrix of Racialicious, and a contributor to our women-oriented sister blog Jezebel. She has not played Uncharted 2 yet.
