BECAUSE WE REALLY DON’T GIVE A DAMN
The Netflix app has finally arrived for the iPhone, after being announced earlier this year at GDC. Already available for the iPad, Netflix for the iPhone allows subscribers to stream movies and television episodes through a portal that is almost like the other Netflix locations available. You cannot use Netflix without a membership. The lowest rate is $8.99, which allows you to have one disc out at a time. There is no iPhone/iPad-only membership level, but at that right, think about it. You’ll get to have a DVD sent to you through the mail, you can stream movies through your gaming system, and now your iPhone. Pony up. [ad#Google Adsense-1] Disney’s Tron sequel is not due until November, but with Comic-Con on the horizon, there’s no better time than now to fire another cylinder in the hype machine. Today, Disney’s Tron game went live in the App Store for a very attractive price: free. 2010 marks the 20th anniversary of the first Secret of Monkey Island game that came out for the PC way back in the day. This original game was ported to the magical (for 1994) Sega CD and then revamped for Special Edition release which has since made its way to the XBox Live Marketplace. The second game, LeChuck’s Revenge, is now available on Xbox Live for 800 Microsoft Points. Players guide the main character, Guybrush Threepwood, through treasure hunting, sailing, gambling, a spitting contest, and other pirate activities. Lucasarts made sure the smart-ass humor that made the series famous stayed intact and even made some additions to the game in this latest release. Just in time for the finals, Game Casa’s review of FIFA World Cup 2010 for the Xbox 360! I picked up the original Aurora Feint for the iPhone, way back in the day, and enjoyed many of it’s aspects. When I heard a new version was coming out for the iPad, I was excited to give it a try. Here’s what I found in my Game Casa Impression of Aurora Feint 3 for the iPad: more » Chances are the only familiarity you have with lacrosse comes from the 1999 movie American Pie. I mention lacrosse and you might think “Oh yeah, that’s the game Stifler and Oz were playing in high school“. That’s the majority of you. There is a portion of sports fans that is familiar with lacrosse and one of it’s outlets, the ; National Lacrosse League. The NLL currently has 11 teams; three in Canada and eight in the United States. Unlike other lacrosse leagues which play in the summer, the NLL plays its games in the winter. All NLL games are played on weekends, save for the occasional Thursday night game Most NLL players have full-time jobs off the floor. Your well known, even your semi well known developers won’t ever go near lacrosse. Versus and Sirius had broadcasting deals with the NLL, then ditched them like a cheerleader ditches her childhood best friend after she gets fat. Here’s my take of Final Fight: Double Impact for Xbox Live Arcade. You can also check this out and comment on the video via our YouTube partner channel. Enjoy looking at my bad side ;) [ad#Google Adsense-1] Note: I have made Paladin Studios aware of this review and have been informed that they are currently working on improving Jimmy Pataya. Expect an updated version of this review when the next major version is released. When I first saw Jimmy Pataya, I was hyped for it. It looked pretty fucking awesome and therefore I thought I was going to love it, and yet I don’t. Note: This is a very short review. I’m pretty sure most, if not all of you have played Air Hockey before at an Arcade. It was pretty fun wasn’t it? Well, Glow Hockey 2 is a neon version of the traditional air hockey and I have to admit, it’s pretty awesome! There are three game play modes in Glow Hockey 2; Championship, Quick play and multiplayer. Lets start off in Championship mode.![]()
All instant watch titles can now be streamed through you’re Apple device

Streaming works over both WiFi and 3G connections but as expected the 3G will have some buffering issues. You cannot stream a flick over the regular network, so if you spot an “E” in the upper-left corner of your phone, that movie will just have to wait until you’re in a better coverage area or within range of a hotspot. If you are a newcomer to the iPhone and not grandfathered into AT&T’s discontinued unlimited data plan, be warned. Watching a lot of video will seriously eat into your data plan, so make sure if you’re a Netflix addict, try and stick to watching stuff over WiFi.
Finding movies in the app is fairly easy thanks to a number of searchable categories such as comedy, raunchy comedy, independent comedy, etc. Once you find something to watch, you can either start immediately or add your Watch Instantly queue to save for later. Oddly enough, the iPhone app is missing what seems like a critical, important feature – DVD queue management. There is no function to find new releases available on disc only to have sent to you in the mail. There are plenty of apps where you can do this (Flixter), but it’s strange not to see it in the official Netflix app. Expect to see that feature in the next version of the app.
The app is also missing a few features I enjoy over my regular Netflix streaming experience and by that I mean XBox360. When going into a season for a TV show, they only give you the titles and don’t provide any description of the episodes. So when I was looking for that episode of Magnum PI where Magnum partners up with Simon and Simon, I am out of luck unless I look it up somewhere else first. Also under the browsable genres, there is no section for new releases in movies and TV. I always like checking that section first to see what new titles are available. But this is all stuff I am sure will get fixed somehow in future versions. If you are a Netflix subscriber, pick this up ASAP. I am wondering how this will affect the iTunes movie and TV show sales. I’m envisioning scenarios where airline travelers would rather pay the fee for wifi on planes and watch Netflix programs rather than pay for stuff off of iTunes. Time will tell.

Disney offers an express ticket to the game grid for an unbeatable price. –IGN

Tron for the iPhone (there is not a native iPad version… yet) is an evolving suite. The first game within Tron is a tank battle contest. It plays not entirely unlike the tank sequence of the classic Tron arcade game. Viewed from a top-down perspective, you scoot around a series of mazes, blasting bugs with your cannons and grenades. However, this is just the single-player game. Tron includes a two-tiered multiplayer mode.
Within the tank battle, there is a basic deathmatch that pits tanks against each other. You just need to create a login (it’s totally painless) and then declare allegiance to a faction — more on these factions in a moment. Up to six players challenge each other in the arenas, maneuvering for better shots and collecting power-ups. Power-ups are key to victory, particularly the cannon upgrades. The normal cannon is not terribly effective. But as you grab power-ups, not only are the shots more powerful, but they also ricochet off walls. The cannon’s top upgrade level releases a rapid-fire volley of shots that ricochet off multiple walls. If you manage to grab it, you will be serious trouble to the other players.
The second tier of multiplayer is a little more ambitious. Once you pledge allegiance to one of the three factions — blue, green, orange — Tron keeps track of your participation. Your performance on the game grid is tallied and thrown into an overall faction rating. The three factions battle for dominance in Tron, although Disney has not made it clear yet what exactly will happen with this meta-level multiplayer challenge.
As mentioned, Tron is designed to evolve. Tanks are just the beginning. Expect to see an update of sorts later this week when Comic-Con officially kicks off. And as we move toward the box office debut of Tron: Legacy, look for additional games to appear inside this app, such as lightcycles.

Players can switch between the sleek graphics and voice acting of the 21st century and the pixelated show with text reading of the 90′s. Pressing the button that triggers this switch even gets you an achievement worth five points. Not bad! In this game, you can move Guybrush using the analog stick instead of having to move a cursor to a certain spot on the map and click “Walk to”. The commands are pretty simple. Choose between look, talk, push, pull, use, etc. There’s a button now that will highlight items on the screen that you can interact with and a button that will throw up a hint as to what you are supposed to do next. This will help speed the game along since it can take you forever to find a small object that you need eight screens away that you had no idea was there in the first place. I must admit, the game is quite a challenge if you go in without any help. I remember in the pre internet faq days you would have to ask your friends for tips or grind on the game for hours before inspiration would come to you for the right move. I dare anyone to play a game without any internet help nowadays. Many characters from the first game make their way into this sequel. And yes, there are monkeys. So if you like 90′s humor, Pirate games, and cheap downloadable titles, pick up this game at the XBox Live Marketplace. Hopefully the rest of the series will be released. There has been recent additions to the series on Wiiware, I hope to get to those eventually.

Recently Triplegames has developed a licensed NLL video game that can be bought and downloaded on XBOX360 for 400 microsoft points. Sports outside the big four are avoid by big developers like the plague. EA has had success with FIFA, but ditched out on Rugby after a few tries and kicked Arena Football to the curb after two games and brought that franchise down much like Jon Bon Jovi did with the AFL entirely. Being a fan of the NLL, I downloaded it and gave it some play. For being a game that was likely made in a dude’s basement, it is what it is. It’s not EA Sports. more »
