Portal 2 to be released on February 9, 2011
Quite soon after most of us will be coming down from the chicken wing and beer coma caused by the Super Bowl, (and Wing Bowl in Philly), Portal 2 will be released on 2/9/11. It was revealed that Stephen Merchant (Extras, The Office UK) will be voicing British robot Wheatley.

Two more announced for Marvel vs Capcom 3
Capcom unveiled two more characters in their next fighting game. Being included in MvC3 is Dormammu, a character many casual fans might not recognize. Dormammu has appeared in over four decades of Marvel publications, featuring prominently in the Doctor Strange titles and limited series as the recurring nemesis of the mystic hero. This could lead to Doctor Strange himself appearing in the game. Also making his entry is Viewtiful Joe, a character who originally had a game on the Gamecube back in 2003. Joe was a playable character in 2008′s fighting game Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars.

The list that IGN made regarding Capcom got me thinking about other legendary game companies and what they are known for. I mean there are so many companies that put out well known franchises where people keep shelling out money for the next edition in the series. The companies know who their target audience is and they market the games towards these gamers and rake in the money. It’s something Tyler Perry has learned well in the movie business and it’s possible he learned the trick from several video game companies. The first one I will look at is Konami. Konami has been around since 1969 and first got their start in Japan making “amusement machines”
#5 – Dance Dance Revolution

This series first hit arcades in 1998. It was pretty much found in every college campus bar for the next ten years. These days it serves as the anchor for whatever arcades are left in America. Yeah, if you see an arcade somewhere, this is what has replaced the rows of Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat games out there. Down the shore, groups of 14 year olds will often be crowded around a DDR machine. I guess they have to get exercise somehow. Many news outlets have reported how playing DDR can be good exercise; some regular players have reported weight loss of 10–50 pounds (5–20 kg). In one example, a player found that including DDR in her day-to-day life resulted in a loss of 95 pounds. Some other examples would be Matthew Keene’s account of losing upwards of 150 pounds and Yashar Esfandi’s claim of losing 85 pounds in four months through incorporation of DDR. Although the quantity of calories burned by playing DDR have not been measured, the amount of active movement required to play implies that DDR provides at least some degree of healthy exercise. The University of Kansas offers a one credit hour course in DDR. In Norway, DDR is an official sport.

Super Mario Bros. Crossover
Super Mario Bros Crossover is a flash game that recreates the original Super Mario Bros for Nintendo and allows you to play it as characters from other classic Nintendo games. It is a tribute to classic NES games and anyone that grew up playing Nintendo should enjoy it. Click on the image above to play it. You can play through Super Mario Bros. using such NES legends as Bill from Contra, Mega Man, Simon Belmont, Link, Samus, and Mario himself. In a future version of the game, Ryu Hayabusa from Ninja Gaiden will be able to traverse Mushroom Kingdom. If you are having trouble playing it in a browser, you can download the game at this link

To call yourself a classic gamer you would have to have beaten at least one of the old Castlevania games. In my opinion if you didn’t beat both Super Castlevania and Symphony of the Night your classic gamer resume is seriously lacking. However, there is a new generation of gamers out there who may have heard of Castlevania but never really played it and that is the audience Konami is targeting with their upcoming title, Castlevania: Lords of Shadow. LOS introduces us to Gabriel whose wife was murdered and is on a quest surrounding two holy masks that are infused with special powers. LOS doesn’t follow any specific Castlevania timeline and it is not yet clear if Gabriel is related to anyone from the Belmont clan, but he does have the trademark chain whip and use of daggers and holy water.
